Event: Ebisu Autumn Drift Matsuri 2011 Part I
It’s that time of year again, when drivers from all corners of the globe converge on what is known as ‘drift heaven’ in the hills of northern Japan. The two-day event has been made famous in thousands of images, videos, and stories of what make Ebisu Drift Matsuri’s such a unique experience. Here’s a look at this year’s Autumn Drift Matsuri!
Event: MSC Challenge at Mobara
Mobara circuit, about two hours east of Tokyo, was the location for the final round of MSC-hosted competitions this year. The event was judged by professional drivers, including the world famous Orido Manabu who also got a bit of track time in his Ridox Supra. There were individual, tsuiso (chase) style, and triple tsuiso team events, with plenty of non-stop action throughout the day.
Gallery: Tec-Art’s Circuit Festival Part II
We’re back with more shots from the recent drift/grip festival hosted by Tec-Art’s at Nikko Circuit. Cars were divided into three classes, with practice sessions all morning, and competition in the afternoon. The event was also covered by Japanese tuning magazine G-Works, so our readers in Japan can look for that in their next issue. As for our photos, check the rest out below.

AE86 tuning shop Tec-Art’s hosted an open track day at Nikko Circuit. There was an interesting variety of cars that turned up for the event, which split the track time between drift and grip. The weather was a bit sketchy at times, but there was no shortage of circuit action. Some highlights after the jump.

Event: Option 30th Anniversary Meeting
The start of autumn in Japan means a lot of car shows take place as the weather becomes a bit cooler. Early autumn’s lack of race events in my area was more than made up for in the amount of amazing machinery on display at various meet-ups. Most recently, Option Magazine had a meeting to commemorate their 30th Anniversary as a publication.
Event: Hellaflush Japan Part II
In the second part of our look at Hellaflush Japan, we’ll continue with the huge variety of cars on display at the show’s Fuji Speedway event area. Can’t hurt to kick things off with the infamous RB30DE-powered Carbon-Z from Rocky Auto, can it? This thing is just unreal!
Event: Hellaflush Japan Part I
Hellaflush’s first big event on Japanese shores was a huge success, to say the least. While its roots come directly from Japanese custom automotive culture, the term “hellaflush” was first associated with a scene that was technically born Stateside. That said, Japan may be the place where Hellaflush is at its biggest and best.

Gallery: Mooneyes All Odds Nationals 2011
Last weekend’s Mooneyes All Odds show was a chance to see some interesting Japanese domestic models that have almost disappeared from roads in Japan. This meet-up was all about rare and unusual JDM rides, and there were a few great examples of models that I had never seen before in real life. …And speaking of meet-ups, keep an eye out for our report on Hellaflush Japan coming soon!
